Emily Dinino
Founder & CEO
Emily Dinino is the Founder & CEO of ThermoShade. She spent two years studying the problem of extreme heat as her master’s thesis and is passionate about finding solutions to protect people and animals impacted by heat stress. Emily has extensive experience in finance and entrepreneurship across investment banking, venture capital, and nonprofit finance. She has been an investor in mission-driven technology and consumer companies from Pre-Seed to Series C and is intimately familiar with the challenges early-stage companies face. Emily holds a BA from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
John Carl
Co-Founder & COO
John Carl is the Co-Founder and COO of ThermoShade. He is an engineering executive with a passion for product development. He spent the last 23 years in the life science industry developing and manufacturing innovative tools that enable researchers to improve patient care. He has watched the green technology movement with great interest and is excited to have the opportunity to develop products that will help people in a warming world. As a veteran of early-stage product development companies, he knows how to build processes and lead teams to get the most out of a start-up. He holds a BS from UC Berkeley in Mechanical Engineering.
Marybeth Carl
Head of Sales & Marketing
Marybeth Carl is the Head of Sales and Marketing at ThermoShade. She is a sales and business operations professional based in California, known for her collaborative approach and ability to build strong relationships across teams. With a focus on driving efficiency and supporting organizational growth, she brings a blend of analytical thinking and people-centered leadership to her work. Marybeth is recognized for her commitment to continuous learning, strategic problem-solving, and delivering meaningful impact within her organization. She holds a BS in Business Management from San Jose State University, and an Executive MBA from St. Mary’s College of California.
